The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk sea freight index, a key barometer for shipping rates of dry commodities, continued to decline for the seventh consecutive day on Thursday, dropping approximately 0.6% to reach its lowest point since June 3, now at 1,434 points. The capesize index, which primarily handles the transport of 150,000-ton cargoes like iron ore and coal, decreased for the 13th day in a row, falling 3.3% to reach its lowest level in over a month, now at 1,894 points. In contrast, the panamax index, usually associated with carrying 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, increased by 1% to reach 1,507 points. Meanwhile, the supramax index hit its highest level in over seven months, climbing to 1,052 points.
