Crude oil prices slowly recovers from three-week fall

This image is no longer relevant

Crude oil prices strengthened on Tuesday after the global decline that occurred the day before. Note that black gold has been under serious pressure recently which caused the price to decline to the lowest levels in the last three weeks. The reduction was mainly driven by an increase in Libya's oil production.

It is clear that the already very limited demand for raw materials on world markets will experience even greater difficulties against the background of increased production in various countries, including Libya. In addition, the most important limiting factor remains the coronavirus pandemic, which creates the main problems in the oil demand sector. And since outbreaks are continuously recorded, governments of severely infected countries are forced to introduce strict restrictive quarantine measures, which in turn negatively affect the level of global demand. At the moment, Europe and the US remain at the peak of the pandemic and continue to record new outbreaks.

Compounding all the problems is the unresolved issue of the financial stimulus program in the US, which has almost no hope of being adopted before the presidential election. Thus, the tendency to sell is only getting stronger.

However, market participants are not satisfied with the statistics on the level of business activity in the economy of different countries showing a clear positive trend, which runs counter to the complex epidemiological situation on their territory.

So far, only one thing is clear: the growth of Libyan oil supplies will be a big problem for the market, which is already experiencing serious difficulties. And OPEC will have to solve this problem.

The price of futures contracts for Brent crude oil for December delivery on the trading floor in London gained 0.67% or $0.27, which sent it to $40.73 per barrel. Monday's trading noted a decline of 3.1% or $ 1.31.

The price of futures contracts for WTI light crude oil on the electronic trading platform in New York gradually strengthens on Tuesday. It went up 0.57% or $0.22 by morning which sent it to $38.78 per barrel. Monday's trading session ended in the red zone, with contracts down 3.2% or $1.29 per barrel.

In general, it is worth noting that the price of futures contracts for crude oil of both brands reached a minimum value on Monday, which has not happened since the beginning of October this year. On Tuesday, it began a slow recovery, which, however, does not inspire much hope for further positive results.
